Get To Know Alba Alemán, President and CEO of Citizant

When we began planning the Femworking Blogger and Small Business Conference we made it a goal to carefully select and recruit speakers and panelists who were not only engaging, but had a real message to share with attendees. As with every decision we asked, “will this person bring value?” We balanced our line-up of speakers to include veteran bloggers/business owners as well as newer bloggers/entrepreneurs. We found legal, tax, marketing and SEO experts. We searched for locally based bloggers with broad audiences. We also found entrepreneurs who have built incredible multimillion dollar businesses from the ground up.

Over the next few weeks we will feature some of our speakers in a “Get To Know” series. I think you will be as impressed as we are by the amazing talent who will grace the stage to help inspire, connect and educate.

Alba M. Aleman, President and CEO of Citizant

Alba M. Aleman, President and CEO of Citizant

For our first “Get To Know” feature we are highlighting Alba Alemán, President and CEO of Citizant. From our first e-mail exchange, we knew she was not only an incredible businesswoman, but an incredible person as well. She has spent the last 14 years building Citizant from the ground up while raising her daughter who just headed off to college last weekend. This highly respected company, which has a 14-year record of success and growth, designs and delivers smarter and leaner IT and business transformation solutions to the U.S. government.

Alba’s professional background combines more than 20 years of experience in talent acquisition and retention with the delivery of high-quality information solutions to the government. In 2010, she was recognized as the Fairfax County (Va.) Latina Business Owner of the Year by the Mid-Atlantic Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.  In 2008, she was named among the 25 top female executives in the region by Washington SmartCEO magazine and was recognized as a ‘Women Who Means Business’ by the Washington Business Journal.  She is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization and U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

Alba’s contribution to the business panel will be invaluable. She is a true success story who not only has incredible wisdom and insight to share, but is highly supportive of women entrepreneurs. We know she will provide inspiration to many of the attendees.

Register today to hear Alba speak and to take part in this day-long educational conference.

Reader & Client Appreciation Cocktail Party

Once the long day of incredible educational seminars are over, all Femworking Blogger & Small Business Conference attendees are invited to attend the post-conference Reader and Client Appreciation Cocktail Party from 7 to 10 pm.

We’ve rented out the spectacular Rooftop Chesapeake Lounge at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Va. (same hotel as conference) as a thank you for attending. This unique event is not only our way of saying thank you to attendees, but it is also an opportunity for you to invite your readers and/or clients.

That is right, this is more than a conference event, it is an added value to all attendees wanting to reach out and thank their followers and clients.

There will be plenty of cocktails (cash bar), hors d’oeuvres and a few surprises.

We are so excited about the Reader & Client Appreciation Cocktail Party that we put together a video – our first attempt at “vlogging”- to explain exactly what it is about!

Register for the conference and then register for the cocktail party. Once you have secured both tickets, you can share this link – http://www.eventbrite.com/event/7838690735/eorg – with your readers and clients!

This is a FREE EVENT, but please make sure to register because space is limited.

FemCon13 Unites Bloggers, Brings Value to Attendees

For weeks prior to the big announcement of the first-ever Femworking Blogger and Small Business Conference, we wondered what the response would be from the local blogging and business community.

We have put an incredible amount of time and energy into organizing and planning the conference logistics, from the speakers to the meal choices to the website navigation. With every decision we ask ourselves, “Will this bring our attendees value?”

We hoped people would not only see the value, but register and attend. On August 15, with butterflies in our stomach, we sent out our news release, opened registration and crossed our fingers.

What we discovered is that people ARE seeing the value. More than that, the Femworking Blogger and Small Business Conference is uniting groups. The Virginia Bloggers Club, for instance, has been buzzing about the event. They are planning to wear buttons or order tote bags to show their solidarity.

They are even writing blog posts and helping to spread the word – not because we have asked them to do it, but because they understand that an event like this is not only a long-time coming, but is well deserved. The Washington DC area SHOULD host a conference of this kind.

We will update the Conference Blog regularly to share all our exciting news. Every day we are adding sponsors, business partners and speakers. Every day we are adding value to the attendees. So make sure to sign-up for our Conference Newsletter (on sidebar).

Thank you for helping to spread the word and don’t forget to take advantage of the Early Bird Special of $99 (ends September 5). You can register here.

We are happy to share all blog posts written about the conference, so make sure to tweet them to @Femworking. Here are the two written from members of the Virginia Bloggers Club:

  • Femworking NoVa Blogger Conference Oct. 26th #femcon13
  • Upcoming Blogger Conference – Femworking Conference in Northern Virginia
